TikTok is renowned because of its 15-second quirky videos, but users must also be from the watch out for scammers in the myspace and facebook.

Cybersecurity company escort directory Tenable circulated a 50-page report on Wednesday that outlined three forms of frauds it entirely on TikTok that involved directing users to adult internet dating sites, impersonating popular users and boosting loves and supporters.

“Given TikTok’s meteoric increase in appeal, it comes as no real surprise that scammers would get sucked in,” Tenable researcher Satnam Narang stated into the report. “thus far, these frauds be seemingly in their infancy.”

This year in March, Narang started tracking scammers on TikTok, which surpassed 1 billion downloads. A TikTok spokeswoman stated the ByteDance-owned business has pulled down most of the records mentioned in the report and depends on a variety of technology and user reports to quickly determine records that violate its guidelines against defrauding or misleading users in the platform.

“TikTok has strict policies safeguarding users against fake, fraudulent or misleading content,” an organization spokeswoman said in a statement. “We flag and take away most spam accounts before they could reach users’ feeds, and now we continuously improve our defenses, even while harmful actors strive to evade our safeguards.”

TikTok declined to express what amount of accounts that are fake in the platform or just exactly how predominant the scams outlined within the report are.
